Who is responsible

This website, stefangauciscicluna.eu, is run by Stefan Gauci Scicluna, working across Malta and the United Kingdom. If you have any question about your data, or you want to see, correct or delete what is held about you, email stefan.gauci.scicluna@gmail.com.

What is collected, and why

Apollo visitor analytics. The site uses the Apollo website tracker, which places cookies and reads technical information such as your IP address, the pages you view, your approximate location and, where it can, the organisation you are visiting from. The purpose is to see which organisations and people are interested in the lecturing and writing, so I can follow up. The legal basis is your consent. The tracker runs only after you click OK in the cookie bar, and you can withdraw consent with the No thanks button, or the button below. Apollo's own privacy information is at apollo.io/privacy-policy.

HubSpot and Google Analytics. The site uses HubSpot tracking, which sets cookies such as hubspotutk to record the pages you view and, if you send an enquiry, links those visits to it, and Google Analytics, which sets cookies such as _ga to count visits and show how people find the site, for example from Google search or an advert. The purpose is to understand which work interests people and to follow up enquiries properly. The legal basis is your consent. HubSpot runs only after you click OK. Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode until then: it sets no cookies and sends Google only anonymous signals with no identifiers. Both switch off with the same No thanks button. Meta pixel. The site also uses the Meta pixel, which sets a cookie (_fbp) and tells Meta about your visit, such as the page viewed and your browser details. The purpose is to see which of my Facebook and Instagram adverts bring people here, and to show those adverts to relevant people. The legal basis is your consent. It runs only after you click OK and switches off with the same No thanks button as the Apollo tracker. Meta also uses this data for its own purposes; see Meta’s privacy policy.

LinkedIn Insight Tag. The site also uses the LinkedIn Insight Tag, which sets cookies and tells LinkedIn about your visit, such as the page viewed and your browser details. The purpose is to see which of my LinkedIn adverts bring people here and lead to enquiries, and to show those adverts to relevant people. LinkedIn does not tell me who you are. The legal basis is your consent. It runs only after you click OK and switches off with the same No thanks button. LinkedIn also uses this data for its own purposes; see LinkedIn’s privacy policy.

Enquiry form. When you send an enquiry through the contact page, the form is handled by HubSpot, which passes your name, email, and the details you enter to me. That information is used only to reply to you and to arrange any work that follows. It is not used for marketing lists.

Free checklist requests. If you asked for my free founder's checklist, through a form on LinkedIn or on this site, you gave me your name, work email, organisation, job title, country and company size, and told me whether you ticked the box for subscriber extras. I use these details to send you the checklist and to follow up about it by email. The legal basis is legitimate interests: you asked for it, and a short follow up is what you would expect. If you ticked the box, I also send you subscriber-only free resources and a coupon by email over the following ten days, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email or by replying. If you left the box unticked, you get the checklist and my follow up about it, and nothing promotional. I don't phone anyone because they asked for the checklist. The details reach me through HubSpot, which holds them in its European data centre. LinkedIn runs its own forms as a separate controller; see LinkedIn’s privacy policy.

Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. To serve them, Google receives your IP address. No font cookie is set.

How long it is kept

Analytics data linked to a visit is kept for up to 24 months and then removed. Enquiries you send are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and any work that comes from it, after which they are deleted. If you asked for the checklist and we don't go on to work together, your details are kept for 24 months from your last contact with me and then deleted, unless you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them sooner. If you unsubscribe, I keep your email address alone so that you are not contacted again.

Cookies, and how to opt out

The only non-essential cookies on the site are those set by HubSpot, Google Analytics, the Apollo tracker, the Meta pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag. You can opt out in three ways: click No thanks in the cookie bar at the bottom of any page (it stays open until you choose), or Cookie settings in the footer to bring it back; use the button below; or block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Opting out stops all of them loading on your future visits from this browser.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to it being used. To exercise any of these, email stefan.gauci.scicluna@gmail.com and I will respond. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the supervisory authority: in Malta, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (idpc.org.mt); in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this notice

If the tools on the site change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
