Work with me

Commissioned writing on business, economics and policy.

I write for organisations and people who need a complicated subject made clear and credible: a regulator's new rule explained, a position argued in the press, a report that carries weight, a speech that sounds like you, or the strategy and operations documents that decisions actually run on. One brief, a fixed price, delivered on the date.

What I write

01

Op-eds and columns

Argument-led pieces for the press, trade titles and your own channels. One clear idea, made on the evidence, in a voice that reads like a person.

600 to 1,200 words · series or one-off
02

Policy briefs and explainers

The what, the why and the trade-offs of a regulation or reform, set out so a busy reader gets it in one pass, with EU, UK and Malta comparisons where they help.

2 to 8 pages · briefing or explainer
03

Reports and white papers

Longer, sourced arguments that carry a position. Research, structure and drafting, delivered as a finished document you can put your name to.

8 to 30 pages · report or white paper
04

Speeches and ghostwriting

Words for a founder, executive or public figure who has the ideas and not the hours. Written to sound like you, not like me.

speeches · bylined articles · posts
05

Strategy notes and board memos

A decision framed properly: the options, the trade-offs, the recommendation and the reasoning underneath. The document that ends the meeting.

strategy notes · board and investor memos
06

Operating models and SOPs

How the work actually runs, written down clearly: operating models, process documents and standard operating procedures a team can follow.

operating models · process docs · SOPs

How it works

1

Brief

You tell me the subject, the reader and the format. A short call or email is enough to start.

2

Proposal

I come back with the angle, the scope, a timeline and a fixed price. No surprises later.

3

Draft

You get a sourced first draft on the agreed date, then one round of revisions built in.

4

Sign-off

Final copy, ready to publish or circulate, with sources listed and the file in the format you need.

Ways to work together

Fixed-price commissions, or a retainer for regular work.

Most people start with a single commission: one piece, one price, one deadline. If you need writing on a regular rhythm, a monthly column, an ongoing briefing, a steady flow of ghostwritten posts, a retainer works out simpler and cheaper. Either way you know the cost before I start.

Tell me what you need
  • Priced per brief. A fixed figure agreed up front, not a running meter.
  • One revision round included. Built into every commission as standard.
  • Sources shown. Every factual claim is referenced, so the work holds up.
  • Your rights, your voice. Ownership transfers to you, and ghostwriting stays yours.
  • NDA on request. Confidential briefs handled in confidence.

Common questions

What kinds of writing do you take on?

Op-eds and columns, policy briefs and explainers, reports and white papers, speeches and ghostwriting, and strategy and operations documents such as board memos, operating models and SOPs. If it is business, economics or policy and it needs to be clear, it is in scope.

How much does a commission cost?

Every commission is priced per brief, not per word, and the price is fixed before I start. Once you tell me the format, the length and the deadline, I send back a single figure with the scope it covers. Retained arrangements for regular work are quoted monthly.

How fast can you turn work around?

A short op-ed can be a few working days. A report or white paper needs longer. I give you a firm delivery date in the proposal and hold to it. If a deadline is tight, tell me and I will say honestly whether it is realistic.

Will the work sound like me, not like you?

Yes. For ghostwriting and bylined work I write to your voice, not mine. I will ask for samples of how you already sound, and one revision round is built into every commission so we get it right.

Who owns the finished piece?

You do. On commissioned and ghostwritten work the rights transfer to you on final payment, and I do not claim a byline unless we agree one. I am happy to work under a non-disclosure agreement.

Which subjects and jurisdictions do you cover?

Business and enterprise, economics and investment, public policy and governance, and the strategy and operations behind them. I work across the European Union, the United Kingdom and Malta, and I read the three systems against each other where that helps the argument.

Start a commission

Tell me what you have in mind. The more you can say about the subject, the reader and the deadline, the sharper my proposal will be. I aim to reply within two working days.
